It's Friday with [Popcorn and Petunia's]

Which means two things; 1. I can get some things done  and be productive so I can have a relaxing weekend or 2. I can take a nap. Well, on days like today I just want to do both. It's a gloomy day, perfect for napping or snuggling on the couch watching Netflix! Instead, Lennon and I went to the greenhouse this morning to pick out some flowers and plants for the yard. We spent so much time going through the aisles looking at all of the colors of impatiens and petunia's while munching on free popcorn and signing the Five Little Monkey's song. Lennon thought all of the flowers were "so awesome and pretty" and had to stop to smell and touch every single one.

Browsing the aisles at the greenhouse while breathing in the unforgettable aroma of popcorn and petunia's brought back so many memories of my childhood. I will never forget the weekends spent at the greenhouse picking out flowers and plants with my mom and my Grandma and getting to eat little bags of popcorn. I'm sure that I cherish the mommy/daughter moments as much as my Grandma did, and as much as my mom did too. I hope it's a tradition that we never let go of! (Let's just hope the high bill when checking out isn't a tradition)!

After the greenhouse adventure and lunch at home we cuddled, Lennon fell asleep and I went outside for much needed alone time with Pandora and planting flowers. It was so fun, I never knew that I loved getting my hands dirty so much!

My front yard was screaming for some color and livelihood. Thanks to my BFF for giving me flower tips, and to the lady at Abele for helping me pick out flowers for shade I am all set with a good color palette.

BEFORE

AFTER

Yay for vinca vines (I am so bad at learning these names of things!) and petunia's in my pots, by the doors and the impatiens in the maple tree "garden" now! My front yard has COLOR, woohoo! The only thing I didn't get around to planting in this area is the hosta's. Those things need big holes and my preggo body isn't digging a hold that deep in a root filled area. NO WAY, Josè.

... and of course my little helper woke up from her nap and couldn't wait to put her gardening gloves on! She definitely went into crying, screaming, kicking, meltdown mode once she realized that she had mud on them and all over her arms, legs, shoes, shirt, etc. So that was the end of our planting adventure for the day... Inside to the shower we went! All happy and clean now :)

...and VOILA. I finally have a colorful front yard. I am so pleased with it! :)
Until next spring...
